Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouli, emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the tourism sector, noting its significance to the economy and potential to create jobs.

Members of the advisory committee on tourism development shared plans to increase tourist arrivals, enhance travel experiences, and boost repeat visits. They emphasized the critical importance of increasing the number of flights to Egypt, suggesting to engage with private airlines and create aviation hubs to meet the demand.

The members also proposed expanding Cairo and Marsa Alam airports to increase their capacity to keep up with the growing demand.

The investors who were present at the meeting highlighted the need for closer collaboration between the government and the private sector. They called for quicker hotel licensing, better infrastructure, and relaxation of investment regulations.

They also brought up the importance of ensuring a seamless tourist experience at every location, from the airport to the historical sites.

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Sherif Fathy, who was present at the meeting, confirmed that several proposed projects were already in motion, such as the launch of electronic visas.

Minister Fathy also recommended setting up a central entity, “Investment Opportunities Bank,” to handle tourism investments.

Prime Minister Madbouli closed the meeting by giving instructions on the privatization of airport management, speeding up the e-visa implementation, and simplifying the licensing procedures for businesses in the tourism industry.

He also asked to ease the bureaucratic process for hotel development so that the country could quickly increase its accommodation capacity.
